Outreach For Animals Week 2008

What is Outreach for Animals Week?Outreach For Animals Week 2008 logo

Outreach for Animals Week 2008 is an innovative outreach and fundraising event with the goal of educating the public about farm animals and vegetarianism. Volunteers sign up and raise pledges from family and friends. They will then spend three or more hours leafleting--empowering individuals to make informed and compassionate choices that will save countless animals.  Here are some common questions (and answers!) about Outreach for Animals Week.

When is Outreach for Animals Week?

Outreach for Animals Week begins on Sunday, October 12th, with a kick-off event including beverages, snacks, and an inspiring presentation. Leafleting shifts will be from Monday through the following Saturday. Each volunteer will have a designated time slot and location at which he or she will be handing out leaflets to passers by at college campuses, concerts, festivals, and other conducive venues. The event will end on the 19th with a celebration of our efforts.

Here is our schedule of events:

Why a leaflet-a-thon?

Leafleting is a great way to reach a large audience of people. It simply involves handing literature to individuals walking past. The literature contains information that they can read on their own time. Many people love animals, but are unaware of the inhumane and horrifying conditions in which animals live. They don't know what they are supporting when they purchase meat, eggs, and dairy products. When given the tools they need to make changes, many will gladly do so.

It has been estimated that for every fifty leaflets that are handed out, one person will make the switch to vegetarianism. Since the average person consumes approximately 2,400 animals in their lifetime, inspiring one person will save hundreds to thousands of animals.

Most change occurs at the grassroots level, and we couldn't do it without the help of volunteers like you, so get started today! You don't need any prior leafleting or outreach experience to help out.

How your pledges will make a difference

Your pledges support the vital work of Compassionate Action for Animals in educating the public about farm animal abuse and promoting compassionate alternatives through leafleting, social events, food giveaways, speakers, the media, and much more.

Pledge Prizes

For raising pledges, not only do you earn the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping animals, but there are also prizes awarded!
